Biography

Gerald Raymond Edwards was born June 20, 1917 in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York to Vella Lulu Stevens and Jason Edwards.

In 1920, Gerald and his parents and brother, Walter, were living in the home of Emily Edwards, his widowed grandmother, in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. Included in the household were his teenage aunts, Mildred and Jessie, and uncle Leon Edwards. His father, Jason, was employed as a car repairman.^[1]

By 1925, Gerald was living in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York. ^[2]

Gerald and his parents and six siblings were residents of Cuba, Allegany, New York in 1930. His father, Jason, was a laborer in an oil refinery.^[3]

In about 1938, Gerald married Dora Travis. In 1940, Gerald, Dora and their 10-month-old daughter, Janice Ann, and Dora's 18-year-old sister, Eleanor Travis. Both Gerald and Dora were employed by an electrical transformer company. Gerald was a press man and Dora was a neon worker.^[4]

Gerald died on May 5, 1970 at the age of 52 and was buried in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, Allegany, New York.^{[5] [6]}
