Biography

Harry George Duggan was born on September 3, 1888 in Bernice, Sullivan, Pennsylvania, United States, son of William H. Duggan (1850–1925) and Minnie May Hughes (1858–1935).[1]

The family moved from Bernice in Sullivan to Anita and then to Bradford in McKean County by the late 1890s.

In the 1900 and 1910 Census Returns, Harry was with the family living at Sanford Street in Bradford, McKean, Pennsylvania. [2] [3]

Harry registered for the draft for World War I. [4]

Harry was reached the rank of Sargeant. U.S. Army during WW I. He was inducted at Bradford 5/29/1918; assigned to HQ Co., 155th Depot Brigade at Camp Lee, VA; appointed Bugler 8/3/1918; promoted to Sgt. 12/6/1918; honorably discharged on demobilization 3/24/1919. [5][6]


In 1920, Harry was living in his older sister, Eleanor’s household in Bradford Ward 4, McKean. [7] In 1920 Eleanor was in the process of divorcing her husband, and Harry may have been living with Eleanor to help out.

By 1930, Harry was back living in his mother’s household in Bradford, McKean. [8]

Harry was mentioned in an obituary in 1935.[9]

Harry married Martha Mattson (born on March 23, 1901 in New Sweden, Aroostook, Maine, United States) before the 1940 Census.[10] [1]


Harry registered in April 1942 in the Fourth Registration for the draft for World War II. In the index his name is given as Hatty [11]

Martha died in 1950. [12][1]

Harry filed a new will 25 AUG 1953. In it he names his brothers James W, Walter, and Emerson; nephew Earl W. And nieces Rena Smiley and Elenor Foster.


Harry died on September 14, 1958 at the VA Hospital in Buffalo, Erie, New York, United States, aged 70.[13] [14][1]

Buried after 14 SEP 1958 at Hessel Valley Lutheran Cemetery,Chandlers Valley, Warren, Pennsylvania, United States.[14][1]
