Arsène Descoteaux was born to parents Joseph Descoteaux and Emilie René on 16 Jun 1852 and baptized the same day in the parish of Saint-Jean-Chrysostôme-de-Lauzon, Quebec, Canada. His godparents were Isaac Terrien and Delina Demers.[1]
Marriage and Children
Arsène married Marie-Célina Nault on 9 Jan 1872 in the parish of Saint-Médard-de-Warwick, Quebec, Canada. Present at the wedding were Xavier Desharnais and Arsène's brother Honoré Descoteaux.[2][3]
In 1861, Arsène was living with his parents and brothers in Saint-Jean-Chrysostôme, Quebec, Canada. His brother Joseph lived next door with his wife and daughter.
Arsène was still living in Warwick, Quebec, Canada in 1881, now with his wife, children, and an older man named Andre Descoteaux. His parents and brother Honoré lived next door.
He makes his final appearance on River Street in St. Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont, USA in 1920, living with his son and brother-in-law. Next door on either side was the family of his son William, and the widow and children of his son Napoleon.
Arsène Descoteaux died of Chronic Bronchial Asthma on 27 Feb 1927 in Barre, Washington, Vermont, USA.[23][24]

Arseine Decoteau died Sunday morning at 8:45 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Lafrenier, - on the East Barre Road, where he had been living this past winter. For several months he had not been feeling well as usual, but had been confined to his bed only a week, the cause being a general breaking down.
Mr. Decoteau was born in Canada 76 years ago and previous to coming to Barre had lived in the states in St. Johnsbury, and Claremont, NH.
Six years ago Mrs. Decoteau died. For three years he lived with another daughter on the East Barre Road, Mrs. Eugene Beaulieu.
Besides the two daughters previously mentioned, there survive Mrs. Charles Beaulieu of this city, and Mrs. Joseph Bacon of West Warwick, R.I.; two sons, Eugene and William Decoteau of Claremont, NH; a brother, Joseph Decoteau of Ware, MA, 49 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at St. Monica's Church, after which the body will be placed in the vault at Wilson cemetery and in the spring, interment will be made in the family lot in the cemetery at St. Johnsbury.
