Biography

Carleton Gayle Dent, born on September 15, 1887, in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, was the son of George Gayle Dent and Anne Carleton Dent. His early years found him in Spring River Township, Lawrence County, Arkansas, where, by 1900, he began his career as a salesman.

In 1910, Carleton shifted gears, pursuing a career as an electrician while still residing in Spring River Township. On June 5, 1912, he married Ethel McCaleb in Independence County, Arkansas, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.

The 1920 census places Carleton in Seattle, King County, Washington, where he continued his work as an electrician. Returning to his roots, he settled in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas, by 1930, maintaining his occupation in the electrical field.

The 1940 census records a shift in Carleton's career, now identified as an engineer while still residing in Batesville. His versatility and adaptability in various professions showcased his industrious nature.

Tragically, Carleton Gayle Dent passed away from a heart attack on September 12, 1968, during a vacation in the mountain area of Pike Peaks, Colorado. His final resting place is at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas. Carleton's life journey reflects a dynamic individual who navigated through different professions, leaving a lasting impact on his community and family.
