Sydney Dean was the daughter of William Dean & Nancy McLain Kelly. She married Edmund Asbury Whitaker on August 24, 1824 in Harrison Co, KY.

1. Mariah Louisa Whitaker born December 19, 1825 in Harrison Co, KY and died 1890 in Carroll Co, KY. She married Wyant O. Gullion on April 6, 1852. 2. Elijah "Shuck" Whitaker born August 21, 1827. He married Letitia Vanlandingham. 3. Martha A. Whitaker born July 11, 1829 and died September 16, 1866. She married John Scott Gullion on October 17, 1863. 4. Lucy Jane Whitaker born March 1, 1831 and died 1891. She married Benjamin Gullion in 1859. 5. John Pierce Whitaker born January 19, 1835 and died October 6, 1921. He married Etta Jenetta "Jennie" Blackwelder in 1874. 6. Cyrus Whitaker born April 4, 1837. He married Katie Vanlandingham on September 29, 1870. 7. Mary E. "Mollie" Whitaker born March 14, 1840. She married William Byrd Williams on September 29, 1870. 8. L. Helen Whitaker born January 14, 1843 and died August 3, 1927. He married James A. Bond on September 30, 1963 in Carroll Co, KY.
