Vera was born in 1891. She was the daughter of Alfred Deakin and Elizabeth Browne.
Youngest daughter of Alfred (Australia's second Prime Minister) and Elizabeth Martha Anne (nee Browne) Deakin. Wife of Sir Thomas White.
Red Cross Worker. Founder of the Australian Wounded and Missing Inquiry Bureau in the First World War.
She was appointed O.B.E. in 1917 at the age of 25 years.
She passed away in 1978 in South Yarra, Melbourne City, Victoria.
Vera was cremated at the Springvale Botanical Cemetery, aged 86 years. Her ashes were initially collected by her family and later interred next to her husband at the Queenscliff cemetery, Point Lonsdale, Greater Geelong City, Victoria.
