Biography

Will Davis Sr. is a part of US Black heritage.

William was born in 1924 in Orangeburg, SC. He was the son of Willis Davis and Sarah Bardliving.

1942 He registered for the draft in 1942 in Canton, Haywood, North Carolina. The informants name was Sarah Davis, his mother.[1]


He married Doris Anna Armistead, 1825-1998.[2]

Death

He was mentioned on a memorial in Woodland Cemetery, Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States with a death date of 7 May 2008.[3]

His son's unsourced obituary on Find-A-Gave reads:

WILLIAM WILLIS DAVIS SR. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at his home. He was born on April 28, 1924 in Orangeburg, SC, to the late Willis and Sarah Bardliving Davis.

"Will", as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Stamford school system having excelled in sports and was a graduate of Stamford High School. He was one of the original Yerwood Players.

Mr. Davis was employed for many years with the Stamford Polishing & Plating Co. as an electro-plating worker. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Stamford where he was a valued member of the Men's Choir and a founding member of Autumn Gold Senior Center.

He is survived by his son, Attorney Kenneth R. (Roberta) Davis of Stamford, and his daughter, Joyce L. Davis of San Jose, CA; six grandchildren, Michael W. Davis of North Hollywood, CA, Nicole D. Davis of Greensboro, NC, Ira J. Cobb, of Bridgeport, Nicole S. Cobb of Stamford, Khalia S. Davis of San Jose, CA and Ahjali D. Davis of San Jose CA; five great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris A. Davis; one son, William W. Davis, Jr.; and one sister, Anna Williams.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 11 am until 12 pm at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Funeral services will follow at the Church, Rev. Robert W. Perry, Officiating. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery.
