UPDATE on the question of the Irish roots of Jph Dancy m Ann Morgan, lived in Rowan North Carolina, and his descendants.
I've now uploaded the first page of the document, which was a written note of a conversation by William Henderson Dancy in 1899, to one of his grand daughters. It was concerning his own grandfather, Edward "Neddy" Dancy, with names of some of his children by one of his wives, Milly Vannoy.
It is of relevance that this recall includes " The Danc'ys were of Irish descent" It leaves the question of how far back might time-wise that Irish descent may be, but if John Dancy was a child of William Dancy and Mary Mason, that puts the Irish connection back by probably a further 3 generations; would someone have recall of ancestral roots that far back? William and Mary's children were recorded as being baptised in Albermarle, Sussex Co Virginia, but there is no baptism there for a john Dancy to those parents?.
And there is a growing number of DNA matches to several strands of Irish Dancy/Dancey descendants, of Cos Cavan and Monaghan, who can trace back their lines to around mid 1700's,Ireland, who match across quite a number of John Dancy's strands of descendants.
