Biography

John Crawford is a member of Clan Crawford.

John Crawford was born in Saint Cuthbert Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland on January 26, 1850 to David Crawford and his wife, Margaret (Tennant) Crawford. He was christened on April 14, 1850.^[1] He lived with his family at Grange Loan Gatehouse, Canaan C, in Saint Cuthbert, Midlothian, Scotland^[2] until his family emigrated to Canada about 1854.

After emigrating to Ontario, Canada and settling at Kingston with his family, John married Flora (McFarlane) Crawford, daughter of Alexander MacFarlane and Catherine McLean; at Maberly, South Sherbrooke, Ontario in 1879^[3] After living at Oso, Frontenac County for a short time, they settled at Flower Station, Lavant Township, Lanark County, Ontario and raised their family.

John died in December 1932, at his home in Flower Station, Ontario.^[4] and is buried at Clyde Forks Cemetery, Clyde Forks, Ontario.

NOTE: His headstone reads 1848 - 1932.

Research Notes

There is a second birth record for John Crawford, son of David Crawford and Margaret Tennant. I believe this may have been a seperate person who died an infant.^[5]

Theory - There were two children named John, the first of which died an infant. There are three years between James W and George. Our John was born in 1850.
