Biography

William was born in 1856 in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England. He was the son of Lefevre James Cranstone.^[1] William's birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1856 in the Hemel Hempsted district.^[2]

In the 1861 census William (age about 4) was living in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England. Relationship: Son.^[1]

When William was about 25 he married Ellen Kent on 17 October 1882 in All Saints, St Pancras, England. William was a surgeon. The couple had one child: Eleanor Lillia Cranstone.^{[3] [4]}

William was a passenger aboard the Ann Duthie which departed from London and arrived in Sydney, New South Wales on 18 January 1883.^[5]
