Biography

Alice was born in about 1866 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England. She was the daughter of Joseph Henry Cranstone and Mary Mallinson, their only child.^[1] Alice's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1866 in the Hertford district.^[2]

In the 1871 census Alice (age 5) was the daughter of Joseph Cranstone in Old Cross, St Andrew, Hertford, Hertfordshire, England.^[1]

Alice was at Mount School in 1884 in York, Yorkshire, England. Mount School was a school for the daughters of Quakers and had a very good reputation.^[3]

In the 1901 census Alice (age 35), Clerk, was the single daughter of Mary Cranstone at 54, Holsworthy Square, St Andrew Holborn Above the Bars and St George the Martyr, Holborn, London & Middlesex, England.^[4]

In the 1911 census Alice (age 45), Typist, stenographer and clerk, was the single daughter of Mary Cranstone at 54 Holsworthy Square W C, St Andrew Holborn above the Bars and St George the Martyr, England.^[5]

Alice died in 1945 and her death (age 78) was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1945 in the Hendon district.^[6] She was buried on 12 February 1945 in St Marylebone Cemetery, London, England.^[7]
