Biography

Ruth was born on 12 February 1890. She was the daughter of Frederick Emerson Cowing and Susan Evans. In the 1900 census Ruth (age 10), Student, was the daughter of Fred W Cowing in Precinct 16, Huerfano, Colorado.^[1] In the 1910 census Ruth (age 20) was the single daughter of Fred E Cowing in Walsenburg, Huerfano, Colorado, United States.^[2]

Ruth (age 21) married Welling A Sumner on 6 September 1911 in Walsenburg, Huerfano, Colorado, United States.^[3] Ruth was in a directory in 1918 at 720 Magnolia av, Pasadena, California, United States.^[4] Ruth was in a directory in 1919 in Tacoma, Washington, United States.^[5] In the 1930 census Ruth (age 40) was the wife of Welling A Sumner at 220 Cedar Street, Walsenburg, Huerfano, Colorado, United States.^[6] In the 1940 census Ruth (age 50) was the married head of household in Walsenburg, Huerfano, Colorado.^[7] In the 1950 census Ruth (age 60) was the widowed daughter of Fred E Couring in Walsenburg, Huerfano, Colorado, United States.^[8]
