John Wesley Conkin was born circa 1844 in Sullivan county, Tennessee, a son of Hagan Conkin and Barbara (Moulton) Conkin. John married Amanda Finley King, (1846-1927) John died November 13, 1906 and is buried in the churchyard of the Bethel Baptist Church, in Hamblen County, Tennessee
