Biography

Elizabeth Wilhelmina Coke daughter of Thomas William Coke and his wife, Jane Dutton, was born on 17 April 1795 and was baptised at St James, Westminster on the next day. ^[1]

She married John Spencer Stanhope, son of Walter Spencer Stanhope and Mary Winifred Pulleine, on 5 December 1822^[2] at Holkham in Norfolk. ^[3]

Her father was created Earl of Leicester in 1837. ^[4] In 1841 she and John were living at Longford Hall in Derbyshire with her parents. ^[5] Ten years later they had their own luxurious home, Cannon Hall at Cawthorne in Yorkshire, and all their grown-up children still at home. ^[6]

Elizabeth died on 30 October 1873 ^{[2] [7]} and was buried at All Saints, Cawthorne in Yorkshire on 4th November. ^[8]
