Biography

Ninfa Cicirello is born around 1825 in Corleone, the daughter of Giuseppe Cicirello and Anna Maria Mannina[1], who married the previous year. Ninfa is named after her paternal grandmother.[2]

In the 1834 Church census, Giuseppe lo Cicero, 49 (b. 1785), his wife Anna Maria , 42 (b. 1792), and children Bernardo, 18 (b. 1816), Santo, 17 (b. 1817), Ninfa, 9 (b. 1825) Leoluchina, 3 (b. 1831), and Anna Gioachina, 1 (b. 1833), live near the entrance to the vanella (a sort of alley) of Giuliano Majuri.[3]

Ninfa marries Francesco Riina on 11 June 1846.[4]

Ninfa and Francesco have at least six children: Giuseppe (c. 1855), Lucia (1858), Calogero (1861), Salvatore (c. 1862), Biagio (c. 1872), and Gioachino (c. 1873).

Lucia is born and baptized on 17 August 1858. Her godparents are Antonino Zabbia and Maria Antonia Mannina, a married couple.[5]

Calogero is born and baptized on 13 January 1861. His godparents are Maestro Gaetano Artale and Antonina Coniglio, a married couple.[6]

I estimate Salvatore is born around 1862, twenty years before he marries.

I estimate Biagio is born around 1872, twenty years before he marries.

I estimate Gioachino is born around 1873, thirty years before his second marriage. Gioachino is named after his paternal grandfather.

Lucia marries Liborio Grizzaffi on 18 November 1877.[7]

Salvatore marries Giuseppa de Luca on 5 November 1882. His parents are both still living.[8]

Lucia dies on 15 May 1885 at 27 years of age.[9] At her death, both her parents and her husband survive her.[10]

Calogero marries Francesca Marino on 4 December 1886. A dispensation obtained 1 December, required due to consanguinity, is included in this record.[11]

Biagio marries Francesca Paola Riina, of unknown relation, on 22 June 1892.[12]

Francesco dies at age 86 (b. 1816) on 9 November 1902, the widower of Ninfa Cicirello.[13]

Gioachino marries at least twice, first to Lucia Cannaliato. He remarries, to Maria Gambino, on 22 April 1903.[14]

Death of Ninfa

Ninfa dies at the age of 70 (b. 1825) in her home at via Vicolo Riina, 15 in September 1895. Her husband Francesco survives her. She is predeceased by her parents.[1]
