Biography

Birth

Charles Ching was born in Vernham Dean, Hampshire, the son of William Ching, in 1Q 1853 (as seen on christening date and age 21 at emigration) [1]

His father William was aged 14.

There is a Church record of the christening of Charles Ching on 24 April 1853 at Vernham Dean, Hampshire.

Marriage

On 4 April 1874 Charles Ching and Matilda Paris were married at Vernham's Dean, Hampshire, England. Charles was the son of William Ching, and Matilda the daughter of George Paris. [2]

On 5 July 1874 their daughter Mary Anne was christened in the same church. [3]

In November 1874 the family emigrated to Canterbury, New Zealand aboard the Lady Jocelyn. [4]
