Biography

Louisa was born in 1856. She is the daughter of Francis Cheney and Elizabeth Spann. [1]

Louisa continued to live with her parents on the farm in Pope County in 1870.[2]

Louisa married George King on 26 Mar 1876 in Golconda, Illinois.[3]

Louisa and George continued living in Pope County where he worked as a clerk in a store and she kept house and by 1880 they had one child, William.[4]

Sometime between 1880 and 1900 they moved to the county west of Pope, Massac, and into a house in Metropolis City. Their eldest child has departed and two more were born, Arkie and Myrtle. George is now an insurance agent and Louisa continues keeping house.[5] By 1910, they have moved to Ferry Street, George is a grocery salesman, Louisa continues keeping house, and Arkie has left the nest.[6] During the last ten years, Myrtle has left home, George is retired, Louisa continues keeping house, and they own their home free and clear at 600 Seventh Street.[7]

In 1921 George passes away, and Louisa probably remains in the same house which they owned and is now renting rooms.

In 1939, Louisa passes away.[8] She is buried off Road District No. 6, Massac County, Illinois.

I agree Cheney-1386 and Cheney-1831 are the same person. However, two minor conflicts need to be resolved, i.e. name, birth date. On the 1900 US Census of Metropolis City, Ward 3, Massac, Illinois, ED 55, her name is spelled Louisa and her birth date shown as Jan 1857.
