Christianity is the world's biggest religion, with about 2.1 billion followers worldwide in 2014. It is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus as presented in canonical gospels and other New Testament writings. The Hebrew Bible, or Old Testament, is also considered canonical. Adherents are known as Christians.
