Mary (Castle) Gale migrated to New England during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640). (See The Directory, by R. C. Anderson, p. 58) Join: Puritan Great Migration Project Discuss: pgm
Mary Castle, daughter of Richard Castle (Maria filia Richardi Castell), was baptized 4 April 1624 in Stratford On Avon, Warwickshire, England.[1][2][3]
Mary married Richard Gale on 16 July 1640 in Watertown, Massachusetts Bay Colony (now Middlesex County)[4][5] They had the following children:
Sarah, born 8 September 1641, was the wife of Joseph Garfield and was named in hier father's will[6] NOTE: she is the only child of Richard and Mary for whom a birth record was found
Abraham, named in his father's will as "Abram", was born c. 1643 and married Sarah Fiske[6]
Mary, wife of John Flagg, was named in her father's will[6]
John, who was named in his fathers will, married Elizabeth Spring[6]
Ephraim, who likely predeceased his father, was in 1673 a vagrant who was "distempered in his mind," according to the court files[6]
"My well beloved wife" was mentioned in her husband's will dated 25 February 1678. Also named in Richard's will were the following children: Abraham, John, Sara Garfield, Mary Flagg. Son Abraham's two eldest sons, Abraham and Richard, were also named.[6]
Mary Geale, wife of Richard Geale, died in Watertown on 2 August 1681.[7][8]

Daughter Abigail and son Thomas should be detached as no record is found to connect them to parents Richard and Mary.

There is no evidence that Richard and Mary had children Thomas and Abigail. PGM might consider detaching them. Also the attached image of Mary's death record comes from Ancestry.com. The image is now linked in the source citation so the the attached image should probably be removed as it is behind a paywall.
Robert Charles Anderson in the GMD gives her origins as Unknown. Is there something which definitively connects here to the parents in Warwickshire?
RCA in GMD: Castle, Mary: Unknown; 1640; Watertown [WP 4:286]. (She married Richard Gale.)
I would add that RCA in GMD additionally gives the origins of Richard Gale as unknown. WT previously showed his parentage as Warwickshire but this was detached for lack of evidence.
This should be reviewed by PGM coordinators/leaders. Thanks.
Very suspicious of this. Married at 16 would have been very unusual. There was a Mary Castell daughter of William baptized the same place in 1611 making her 29 at marriage...IF Warwickshire had absolutely anything to do with Mary the immigrant which as you've pointed out, it doesn't.
Just running a Mary Castell baptism query on findmypast.co.uk England-widw (strictly that name, not even Soundex) for 1615 +/- 5 years turned up 4 unique entries. If you turn on Soundex, you get many many more.
I found the will of her husband Richard "Gall" but nothing in it listed anybody other than immediate family and nothing about property in England, so it wasn't really any help.
The death record citations for Richard appear correct though the wife's name is unstated. Not sure what to make of the wife vs widow on Mary's death record though I have seen this before when it was clearly a widow. I think the parents should be detached...there's just nothing to point toward one potential over another.
Castle-157 and Unknown-413162 appear to represent the same person because: Richard Gale has only one known wife. Mary Unknown-413162 should be merged into his known wife. The Mary Unknown profile contains no information.

And another problem her 1681 death record says she was wife of Richard, not widow of Richard. Makes me even more suspicious. Bottom left of the page https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G979-WDF?i=122&cc=2061550&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AFH7J-853 is the transcript; the original here https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/3773721:2495?tid=&pid=&queryId=3d57de45064e4d46874eec48bf05a387&_phsrc=ESy258&_phstart=successSource is much clearer written as "gael" not "Beale" like it seems in the transcript.
