Leoluca Cascio is the son of Gaetano Cascio and Rosalia Palazzo, contadini (peasants). He is born 8 January 1895 at the family home, 2 via Puccio, in Corleone.
According to his baptismal record, Leolucas (as he is referred to in the church record, which uses Latin names) is born 7 January 1895, and is baptized Leonemlucam, son of Cajetano Cascio and Rosalia Palazzo, on 8 January. His godparents are Stephanus Roidulfo and Marianna Orsena. Leoluca's parents and three of his siblings immigrate to New York in 1901. At age 8, Leoluca and his little brother Biagio, 6, sail on the Nord-America to join their family in 1903.
Louis Cascio, age 22, living at 334 E 106th St, New York, born 7 January 1895 in "Colione" Sicily, Italy, and works as a conductor for New York Railway (99 St Lexington Ave). He requests deferment from the WWI draft due to having dependent family: his widowed mother, a sister who is an invalid (this part may not be right; it's hard to read), and three small sisters. Despite being a resident alien, Louis has 14 months experience in the US Army Infantry as a soldier. Louis is of medium height, slender build, with brown eyes, chestnut hair. Record dated 5 June 1917.[1]
