Carmela Maria Cascio is born 12 July 1788 in Corleone and baptized the next day. She is the daughter of Leoluca Cascio and Bernarda Frisco. Although she is their first born child (her parents married the previous October), Carmela is not named for either grandmother. Her godparents are Giuseppe Cinquemani, husband of Francesca, and Francesca Paola Gennaro, who is unmarried.^[1]

Carmela dies on 10 December 1788.^[2] She is five months old.
