Biography

Giovanni Cascio is born 15 June 1893 to Domenico Cascio, a 41 yo peasant, and Filippa Raja, his wife, also contadina, at 27 Via Santa Maria, Corleone.

Joannes, as he is called in church records, is baptized 18 June as Joannem. His godparents are Angelus D'Anna and Maria "ejus soror innupti" (his unmarried sister).In 1900, Giovanni immigrates with his maternal grandmother to join his grandfather already in New York. His mother and two siblings, Bernardo and Antonina, follow in 1901.
