He was originally a silversmith and later became a doctor.
He married Freelove Townsend on 5 Sep 1779. He was disowned by the Purchase monthly meeting on 12d 10m 1780 [12 Oct 1780] for marrying out of society.[2] He acknowledged on 11d 9m 1788 [11 Sep 1788].[3] Freelove and their children Elizabeth, James, Enoch and Ezra we all later received on request.[4][5][6]
James died 21d 4m 1812 [21 Apr 1812].[7] He was buried in Purchase Friends Meeting Cemetery.[8]
