Biography

Alice was born in 1872. She was the daughter of Sylvester Carpenter and Leatha Crockett. She was married to James Marion Armistead on December 11, 1888 in Stanton, Missouri at the Carpenter's resident by Peter C. Thurmond Justice of the Peace. Alice was the mother of Roy Marion Armistead, Mary Ellen Armistead Randleman, Meta Alice Armistead Dixon, Charles Richard Armistead , Ollie Leatha Armistead Heady and Odist M. Armistead Trentman. She was tragically killed in a wagon accident when the horses were spooked by lightening and thunder in a thunderstorm. She was carrying twins at the time, and died from complications of the accident and pregnancy. Since she was a mid-wife in the community of Stanton, she knew that she was dying. She passed away in 1906, and was buried at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, Franklin County, Missouri.[1]
