Jessie Callin (St. John) was the daughter of James Monroe Callin (1844-1901) and Rosalina Bedora Davenport (1848-1876), born in Mar 1876 in Ohio. While her older siblings went to live with the Davenports, Jessie was taken in and raised by Stephen and Harriet St. John in Plain City, Wood County, Ohio. The St. Johns were also the parents of Mary Ann St. John, who had married Jessie’s uncle George Callin in 1871.[1][2]
Jessie married Albert Henry Chudley on 25 June 1893 in Wood County, Ohio. They had two children in Bowling Green, and the 1900 Census record for Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, indicates both that they were still married at that time and that both children were living, though only Jessie and Lila appear in that record. City directories place Jessie in Jackson, Michigan, in 1902 and 1904, or in Toledo in 1904, but after that, there is no evidence to tell us what happened to her or her children.[3][4][5][6][7][8]
Albert Henry Chudley and Jessie Callin had the following children:
Lu Verne Chudley was born on 30 Jan 1894 in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio. Only a birth record has been found, suggesting she died young.[9][10]
Lila R Chudley was born on 25 Feb 1896 in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio. She lived with her mother in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, in 1900, and visited Mrs. A. A. Magill of Sandusky, Ohio, at Christmas time in 1903.[11][12][13]
