Thomas Taylor Byrd served throughout the Revolutionary War in the British army, rising to the rank of Captain. He served as aide-de-camp to Colonel Fanning. After the surrender at Yorktown he left to England in 1781, returning to America in 1785[1].
On 13 March 1786, he married Mary Anne Armistead[1]. His only son to reach maturity was Dr. Charles Carter Byrd[1]. He passed away in Clarke County, Virginia on 19 August 1821[1].
