Biography

Ernest Browne was born in Queenstown (South Australia) on the 25th of April 1871^[1]. He was the son of Edwin Browne and Mary Elizabeth Lyne.

He married Julia Halpin in New Zealand in 1899^[2]. Julia and Ernest had at least five children in New Zealand:

• Mary Browne (1900)^[3]
• Ernest Lyne Browne (1901)^[4]
• Julia Browne (1904)^[5]
• Bruce Lyne Browne (1907)^[6]
• Marjorie Browne (1909)^[7]

Julia and Ernest had divorced by 1925.

Ernest married Marie Dalley (nee Fimmel) in 1925. Marie reports the marriage was never consummated and she divorced Ernest in 1929^[8].

He was living at South Richmond in 1935^[9].

Ernest died at Windsor in 1958^[10]. He has a memorial at the Springvale Botanical Cemetery^[11].
