In 1900, 7 year old Leonard was living in Lincolnton, Lincoln, Georgia with his family. His father was a farmer and his mother was keeping house and caring for 4 children. He had one older sister who had already passed at this time.
The oldest child, Lucy, had only lived about a year, and died before Leonard was even born.[2]
In 1910, 16 year old Leonard was living in Sybert, Lincoln, Georgia with his parents. His father was a farmer, and he was a laborer on that farm. His mother still had all 4 of her children at home with her. Leonard had lost another sister named Nannie born in 1904. Her death is listed as the same as her birth, so she may have been stillborn.[3]
Leonard married Celeste Standard around the year 1919. This date is estimated based on the fact they were married in Jan of 1920 in the census records, and the birth of their 1st child in 1921.

In 1920, 26 year old Leonard was living in Sybert, Lincoln, Georgia with his parents. His father was a farmer, and his mother was a home maker.
His maternal grandmother had moved into the home in her widowhood.
Leonard was married and his wife Celeste was with him. They had no children at this time, and Leonard was working as a clerk in the rail road office.[4]
In 1930, 38 year old Leonard was living in Lincolnton, Lincoln, Georgia with his wife and children. He was working as a rural route mail carrier. His wife was caring for their 2 children who were both attending school.[5]
In 1940, 46 year old was living in Lincoln County Georgia with his wife and daughter. He was working as a rural mail carrier and his wife was keeping house. This census tells that Leonard attended one year of college, and his wife finished the tenth grade before she left to start a family. His daughter is still in high school and was working in her junior year of school.[6]
Leonard died on 9 Jan 1974 in Lincoln aged 80.[1][7]
