Biography
Joseph, the son of Joseph Braux and Anne Picot, was born 16 Nov 1767, in La Prairie, Province de Québec and baptized the following day according to the parish register of Nativité-de-la-Prairie-de-la-Magdeleine.[1][2]
On 15 October 1792, Joseph married Marianne Duranso in Châteauguay. The Saint Joachim parish records state that witnesses included Joseph Bro, Amant Bro, Jacque Duranso, and Claude Duranso.[3]
Joseph died 1 September 1845. Although the 3 September 1845 record for the parish of Nativité de la Prairie de la Magdeleine states that the burial was of the son of Joseph Braut ("Joseph Brault fils de Joseph Braut et de Mariane Durand, décédé le premier de ce mois), it also states that he was "âgé de soixante et dix huit et demi (78 and a half years old)." This suggests that the burial was of the spouse of Marianne Durand, not the son (fils). Present at the burial were "François Brault, Louis Brault, Baptiste Brault, Nazaire Brault, Joseph Brault ses cinq enfants." [4]
