Capt. Arent son of Andries, brewer was heir of his grandfather, Arent Andriese, the first settler. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of 1745 and Trustee of Schenectady, New York from 1715 to 1767. He built and occupied till his death, the ancient brick house on the north side of State Street near Washington Street.
11 March 1765 BRAT, Arent, surviving patentee in trust for the Township of Schonectady, Albany Co., leaves to his son Harmanis Brat, Jacobus van Slyck, John Sandersen, Isaac Swits, Isaac Vrooman, Nicolas van Petten, Jacob Swits, Jacob Vrooman, Frederik van Petten, Nicolas Groot, Tobyas ten Eyck, Reyer Wimple, Samuel Art. Brat, Nicolas van der Volge, Abraham Wimple, Abraham Mabie, Jacobus Mynderse, John B. van Eps, Gerrit A. Lansing, Peter Mabie, Harme van Slyck, Isaac S. Swits and Abraham Fonda the Township of Schonectady in trust for the freeholders and inhabitants thereof. Executors Jacobus van Slyck, Nicolas van Petten, John Sanderse and Abraham Wimp.
