David graduated from Campbell Senior High School and attended Florida A&M University.[1]

He died in 1966.[2] [3][4][5] He was the son of Louanna D. Branch and Rev. Branch.

Military Service

He was drafted into the Army. Entered the service via Selective Service. Served during the Vietnam War. He began his tour on April 6, 1966. Branch had the rank of Private First Class. His military occupation or specialty was Light Weapons Infantry. Service number assignment was 53400694. Attached to 173rd Airborne Brigade, 17th Cavalry, Troop E. (Troop E, 17th Cavalry was the ground reconnaissance element of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, arriving in Vietnam from Okinawa on 6 May 1965. The troop was colocated with the brigade throughout its service in Vietnam.) [6]
During his service in the Vietnam War, Army Private First Class Branch experienced a traumatic event which ultimately resulted in loss of life on October 7, 1966. Recorded circumstances attributed to: Died through hostile action, explosive device. Incident location: South Vietnam, Quang Tin province.[7] He ws killed by an enemy mine while on a mine detecting mission.
