Biography

Cleo Fleda Brady was born on 25 July 1909 in Goose Creek, Texas . Her parents were Jack Brady and Mary Elizabeth "Mamie" Proctor.

The 1910 Census shows Jack 23, a laborer; Mary 20; and daughter Cleo 11 months.They are living in Justice Precinct 3, Harris County, Texas. ^[1]

The 1920 Census shows Jack 33, wife Mary 30 and children Fleta (Cleo) 10; Viola 8; Charles (James) 5; and Alice 1 year 5 months. They are living in Justice Precinct 4, Hood County, Texas. ^[2]

She married James E. Catching on 15 Dec 1928 in Jefferson, Texas. ^[3]

Census shows James is 36, and wife Cleo is 20. There is a boarder, Frank Carpenter 35 living with them. ^[4]

By the 1940 Census, she is living in the house of Elijah Chamblee 32, and his wife D. Beatrice 49, with P. Hazel Catchings 23- stepdaughter; Oliver Catchings 28 stepson; and Cleo 23 daughter-in-law. Theyare livingin Justice Precinct 2, Harris County, Texas. Something has gone wrong. Where is Ernest? She is living with his mother who has remarried. Since Ernest did not die until 1954, I guess they got divorced. ^[5]

She married Miller Rease Provine in Dallas, Texas on 19 Aug 1945. ^[6]

The 1950 Census shows Miller Rease 38, the proprietor of a grocery store and wife Cleo 40 a grocery Clerk. They are living in Wolfe City, Hunt, Texas. ^[7]

She died on Monday, 13 Jan 1975, in Baylor Hospital in Dallas from respiratory failure. ^[8]

She was buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery on 16 Jan 1975 in Wolfe City. ^[9]
