David very possibly moved to Henrico county after the French and Indian War, and there is a patent dated August 3, 1771: "George the Third to David Bowles, 234 and 1-2 acres in Henrico county, by patent, in consideration of two pounds of tobacco for every acre of land. Signed William Nelson, President of Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony."[4]

David's wife was named Winnie and he sold to his brother Benjamin two tracts 444 and 1-2 acres in Henrico county February 28, 1788.[4] It is recorded about this time that David Bowles was one of the "processioners" of land boundaries in Hanover county.[4]

He is still alive in 1810 Bourbon County, unless this is another David Bowles:

As the post about his wives was made in 2017 and no corrections have been made, I am taking it upon myself to fix this profile and that of his wives.

Alternate Facts: Capt. David Bowles was wed twice: [1]Winifred Minerva Rice and [2]Sarah Hughes. He was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War serving in Capt. Samuel Jordan Cabell's company of the 6th Regiment Virginia Volunteers commanded by Col. James Hendricks. It is believed he is buried at Cane Ridge but it is not verified. He could have been buried on his land which was located near Jacktown. His name is on a plaque embedded in the staircase leading to the entrance to the Bourbon County Courthouse.

Find A Grave

Another source, research of Cheryl R. Houin, says on 17 Mar 1999, that Sarah Hughes was his first wife. On 9 Jan. 1999, she said that Nelson is the son of David Bowles and Winnie Minerva Rice.

I am still trying to find better sources.
