Biography

• After Phebe's death in 1816, Elijah married Nancy Knight. Elijah & Nancy had two children, Nancy & Rhoda.

• Elijah's parents are unknown, they are said by Henry Hart Beeson to have immigrated from England to the Province of Massachusetts Bay at an unknown date.
• Elijah and his brothers, Jeremiah & Hezekiah, were therefore probably born in England or Massachusetts.
• The family moved from Nantucket Island to Boston, Massachusetts, the date of that move is unknown.
• Also unknown is whether any other family members later left Boston besides Elijah.

• Elijah was probably in Guilford County, North Carolina by 1794, the estimated date of his marriage to his first wife, Phebe Green Beeson. That date is arrived at by the fact that Phebe was disowned by the Deep River Meeting (Quaker) on 5 January 1795 for "marrying out". That statement would seem to prove that Elijah Boren was not a Quaker, at least not at that time.
• Elijah and Phebe had the following children; Basil, Elizabeth, John, Mary, Pleasant, Rachel and Benjamin Sr.

• After Phebe's death, Elijah married Nancy Knight, sister of his son Benjamin's wife, Eunice Knight.
• Elijah and Nancy were blessed with two daughters, Nancy Boren Bowman and Rhoda Boren.

Research Notes

• The closest source that can be found for Elijah's date of birth is the 1810 Federal Census. There he is a 26 thru 44 [year old] male, making his birth anytime from 1766 to 1784. Since his first wife , Phebe was born in 1773, it is an estimate that Elijah was born around 1771.
