Biography

Peter Boon is a part of US Black heritage.

Peter Boon was born on 9 Oct 1869 in McCurtain, Oklahoma, United States. He was a Freedman of the Creek Nation, roll #4848.^[1] He was the son of Robert Boon and Winey Lewis. ^[2]

He married Martha (Adams) Washington about 1902. Their children include:

1. Ikey Boon (1903–1978)

3. Robert Lee Boon (1905–1971)
4. John Lewis Boon (1908–1964)
5. Peter J Boon (1910–1958)
6. Winnie (Boon) Griggs (1912–1997)

The 1920 Census^[3] shows him as head of household with his wife and six children in Beggs, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.

He died in 1920 in Oklahoma,^[4] and is buried at the Adams Family Cemetery #2 in Beggs, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.^[5]

Peter Boon of Beggs, Oklahoma, was the guardian for minors Ikey and Robert Boon, (regarding real estate/oil & gas transactions) as seen on page 140, Book 1, of Okmulgee County Probate records. ^{[6] [7]}

Regarding his birth date:

• 1869 is seen on Find A Grave,^[5] but no stone is pictured.
• 9 Oct 1889 is seen on Family Search,^[8] but no source is given with that date.
• The 1920 Census states "Un" where the age should be.^[3]
• 1869 is the birth date he states in a deposition regarding allotment for his deceased step-son William.^[9]

Regarding his date of death:

• 14 May 1920 is seen on the Oklahoma State Vital Records Index.^[4] And he is the only Peter Boon in the Oklahoma system.
• 1973 is seen on Find A Grave,^[5] but there is no supporting documentation, and no grave photo.
