Drury Bobbitt was born about 1744 in the Halifax District of North Carolina. Drury was reimbursed for services rendered in Halifax District, during the American Revolutionary War. [1] Dury is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A011624. DAR Records indicate that he lived in Bute county, North Carolina created from Granville County, North Carolina in 1764, and in Warren county, North Carolina, formed in 1779 from the northern half of Bute County. He died after November 8, 1827, in Moore county, North Carolina, formed in 1785, shortly after the American Revolutionary War. Drury's wife's name is given as Elizabeth Harris. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their son, Drury Bobbitt, Jr. who married Lavenia Park. [2]
Drury Bobbitt Senior was the first Bobbitt to have "Drury" as a given name.[3]
Randolph Bobbitt was a brother of Drury Bobbitt. Randolph died in 1804, and at the sale of his estate, Drury and Elizabeth Bobbitt were listed among the purchasers. Randolph Bobbitt had married an Elizabeth Harris, daughter of Charles Harris. Drury married an Elizabeth Harris, daughter of Nathaniel Harris. We believe that Charles and Nathaniel Harris were brothers.
Drury married Elizabeth Harris about 1761 and had several children.[4]

Richard John Alston This land and mill was a gift from John Alston to his grandson Drury Bobbitt. The price of this land, when compared with other transactions recorded in 1773, indicates that the money involved was for the sole purpose of making a legal deed. This deed was a legal gift from John Alston to his grandson , Drury Bobbitt . His taxable land increased in 1773 from 479 acres to 590. 110 acres were a token payment of a legal deeded gift.[7] ~ Monday July 28,1783,John Alston acknowledged a Deed to Drury Bobbitt, the same was ordered to be registered.[8]
