Joseph was born in 1608.
Joseph, the brother of Thomas Blanchard is believed to have emigrated to America first. He died in December of 1637 at Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. His widow Ann lived in Salem, and her June 24, 1662 death was recorded at Chelmsford and Woburn.[1]
Joseph Blanchard[2] is believed by some to have been "born [abt 1608] in Normandy, France, of Huguenot parentage, went to England as a child with several brothers, one of whom was Thomas Blanchard, the emigrant of 1639. He married Ann -----, whose death 24 June 1662 is recorded at Chelmsford and at Woburn.[3]
He died in "the 10th month [December] 1637."
His widow apparently moved the children to Salem. She may have lived later at Chelmsford.
The NEGHR article of 1939 posited that Joseph Blanchard was a brother of Thomas Blanchard (1590-1654) but this has been disproven by comparing Y-DNA of descendants.[4]
