Louis Reid Blakeman was born on November 13, 1877 in Morgan City, St. Mary, Louisiana, United States, son of George Curtiss Blakeman (~1851–1894) and Henrietta Merriman (1857–1887).
Louis married Virginia Clara Ernestine Bonner, daughter of Charles Ernest Bonner and Virginia Marie Bossuet on 25 Jun 1902 in Morgan City, St.Mary, Louisiana. Their children were:
In 1910, Louis (age 32) lived with his wife of eight years, Clara (age 28) in Morgan, St Mary, Louisiana, United States. Louis and Clara were the parents of daughters, Vivian (age 5, Virginia (age 4), and Ora (age 1), and one son, Louis Jr. (age 2). Louis worked as bartender in a saloon. They rented their home, and they could both read and write. They lived at 144 Third Street.[8]
In 1920, Louis Blakeman (age 42) lived with his wife, Clara (age 36) in Morgan, St Mary, Louisiana. They were the parents of Vivian (age 14), Virginia (age 13), Ora Lee (age 10), Mamie (age 4 years, 4 months), and Ruth (age 1 year, 11 months. Their sons were, Reed (age 12), Benjamin (age 9), and James (age 8). Louis worked as a retail liquor salesman. They lived at 808 Federal Avenue. [9]
In 1930, Louis (age 52) lived with his wife of 28 years, Clara (age 46) in Morgan, St Mary, Louisiana, United States. Louis and Clara were the parents of daughters, Vivian E. (age 25), a stenographer in lawyer's office; Virginia C. (age 23), a telegraph operator; Ora L. (age 21), a bookkeeper in shipyard; Mammie A. (age 14), Ruthe E. (age 11), and Helen J. (age 4 yrs, 3 mos). Their sons living at home were: Benjamin A. (age 19), an auto supply salesman; James S. (age 18), Gerald D. (age 9), and Frank D. (age 8). Louis was chief of police.[10]
Louis (age 60) died on April 1, 1938 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana, United States. [11] He was buried in Morgan City Cemetery and Mausoleum, Morgan City, St.[12]
