William was born in 1927. He was the son of Lawrence Blackston and Pearl Gilstrap. He passed away in 1997.

William Bright "Bill" Blackston, 70, of 1221 Hudson Road, died Sunday at his home following a short illness.

Born in Pickens, he was a son of Pearl Leona Gilstrap Blackston of Greer and the late Lawrence Blackston.

He retired from J. P. Stevens & Co. White Horse plant, and was a  U. S. Air Force veteran and a Baptist.

Surviving are two daughters, Billie Elizabeth Blackston of Greenville and Sandra Ann Montooth of Inman; a son, Ronald Steven Blackston of Greenville; his mother of Greer; five sisters, the Rev. Francis Cobb of Pelzer, Rachel Secrist of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Beatrice Davis and Betty Jo Blackston both of Greenville, and Macie Armonatis of Greer, two brothers Melvin Blackston of Greenville and David Blackston of Lehigh Acres, Fla., two nephews raised in the home, Roger Dale Blackston and Darrell Blackston, both of Greenville, and four grandchildren.
