Alexander Black was born in 1794 in Kilrenny, Fife, Scotland, the illegitimate son of Elspeth Pringle (1776–>1841) and Andrew Black[1] He was baptised on December 14, 1794.[1]
In the 1841 census Alexander Black (age 40), Merchant Seaman, was in the house of his mother and step father, Alexander Tulloes, View Forth Cottage, High Street, Pittenweem, Fife, Scotland.[2]
