Biography

Domenico Birtone, the son of Biagio Birtone and Antonina Bavuso, is born and baptized in September 1797 in Corleone. His godparents are Sigismondo Puma [actually Pomilla] and his mother, Maria [Castro].[1] Two of his brothers are shepherds, making it likely this is also Domenico's profession.

He marries Leoluchina Bonanno, daughter of the late Simone Bonanno and the living Sigismonda Pumilla (Pomilla), on 12 September 1830.[2]

Domenico dies in February 1831 at the reported age of 33 after receiving last rites.[3] Leoluchina remarries in 1832.[4]
