Biography

Luciano Birtone is born 27 March 1878 in Corleone and baptized the next day. He is the son of Francesco Birtone and Maria Triolo. His godparents are Giuseppe Billitti and Maria Antonia, his sister, both unmarried.^[1] Luciano is named after his maternal grandfather, traditional for the second born son.

At least 53 passengers from Corleone sail on the SS Citta’ di Napoli, and arrive 20 October 1902 in Ellis Island. All are going on to the port of New Orleans. Among them are:

On 18 November, Luciano's father dies in Corleone.

In 1920, his brother Stefano marries in New York.
