Biography

Jean Bichard was born 1797 at St Sampson, Isle of Guernsey, Channel Islands.^[1] He worked as a Quarryman. He married Martha Bichard in 1826 at St Sampson, Isle of Guernsey, Channel Islands.^[2]

His wife Martha died 20 April 1839, leaving him as a widower with five children.^[3]

1841 Census

In the 1841 Census, John Bichard along with his five children were living at the Passee, St Sampson, Guernsey. His eldest child, John was 13 and his youngest was Rachel aged 4. John was ^[4]

1851 Census

In the 1851 Census, John was identified as a 54-year-old Widower. His occupation was listed as a Quarry-Man and his location at the Passe remained the same.
