Biography

George Washington Berry was born on 26 October 1828 in Raymond, Maine. His parents were Abraham Berry and Sarah (Strout) Berry^[1].

He married Clarissa Strout on 26 April 1849 in Poland, Maine^[2]. They had seven children^[1]:

1. Rosina, born 24 Mar 1851; married David Gilman Tripp

2. Roxalana, born 12 Sep 1854; married Levi Jones

3. George Freeman, born 10 Sep 1856

4. Rebecca, born 6 Apr 1861

5. Dexter, born 1862

6. Cora, born 29 Mar 1864

George was a member of Co. H, 14th Maine Regiment during the American Civil War. He died on 18 July 1865 on campaign in Georgia^[1].
