Harriet was born in 1872. She was the daughter of Stephen Bent and Mary Parker. Known as Hattie, she sadly died at an early age in October 1879 as described in the New Brunswick newspaper The Times (*) "A little girl, aged 7 years, d/o Stephen Edward Bent, J.P. Bentville, Annapolis, Nova Scotia was killed Saturday afternoon by falling from the tongue of a loaded ox wagon while on the move and upon which she had seated herself to ride home from the field." The inscription on the main Bent gravestone reads: Hattie P died Oct4 1879 aged 7 years.
