Asa Beardsley is a descendant of the immigrants William Beardsley and Mary Harvie.

Biography

Asa was born in 1857. He is theson of Liberty Tanner Beardsley and Maria Bathsheba Scott. He passed away in 1933.

MARIA BATHSHEBA SCOTT -6 b. Aug 17, 1817, in Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., N.Y. Married, April 5, 1846 in Georgetown, Mich. where they lived on a farm about one mile south and one mile west of Jenison, Mich. She married Liberty Tanner Beardsley (nearly always called Bursley). She died Mar. 18, 1872, in Georgetown, Michigan where she was buried. Their children were:

(1) Mary Calista

(2) Eva Maria

(3) Ida Euretta

(4) Asa A.

ASA A. BEARDSLEY -7 b. Jan. 15, 1857, in Georgetown, Ottawa Co., Mich. Married Alice Cole, Sept. 27, 1879. She was born Sept. 27, 1881. They made their home for years on his father's farm, and about 1907 moved to Grandville, Michigan, where he engaged in carpenter work. They had four children:

(1) Liberty was b. Sept. 30, 1880; died Jan. 1, 1905, and buried in Georgetown cemetery. He married Anna Seeley of Traverse City, Mich. They had two children:

(1) Donald Beardsley, b. April 11, 1901.

(2) John Beardsley, b. JUne 27, 1903.

She married a second husband Albert Zeigler, and are making their home in Traverse City, Mich.

(2) Maud Beardsley, b. Apr. 23, 1883; m. Apr. 24, 1903, Kiah Green, and lived on a farm north and east of Hudsonville, Mich., for a few years, later living in Hudsonville, and still later in Grandville, Mich. where Mr. Green was engaged in retail grocery business. They have three children:

(1) Florence Genevieve, b. June 20, 1903.

(2) Russell Irwin, b. Feb. 17, 1907.

(3) Freeman Maxwell, b. Oct. 8, 1909.

(3) Garret Beardsley, b. Aug. 24, 1885, in Hudsonville, Mich. He served in the United States Marine Corps from Feb. 22, 1906 to Feb. 21, 1910, when he received an honorable discharge. He spent one year of the time in the Philippines in Company A, 2nd Regiment, Major E. K. Cole commanding Marine Detachment of Naval Station, Olongapo, P. I. He served on the U. S. S. Maryland, from April 30, 1907 to June 19, 1909, the rest of the time in the United States.

(4) Lulu Beardsley, born Sept. 13, 1892.
