Calvin Ransom Baucom was born on August 29, 1885 in Union County, North Carolina.[1] His parents were Alvis Baucom and Ella (Smith) Baucom.[2][1]

He married Sarah "Sallie" Scott on January 18, 1906 in Union County, North Carolina.[3] The couple had seven children between 1910 and 1930:[4][5]
