Ivan Mark Barnett was born on July 12, 1923 in Rockdale, New South Wales, Australia, son of Alfred William Barnett (1883–1939) and Lillian Elizabeth Reed (1902–1975).
Ivan (19) married Dorothy Joan Johnson (16) (born on October 31, 1926 in Neutral Bay, New South Wales) on May 1, 1943 in North Sydney, New South Wales.[1]

IVAN MARK BARNETT WAS EMPLOYED BY STERN'S IN SYDNEY NEAR THE OLD TIVOLI THEATER AS A TENT MAKER DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR. HE WORKED THERE FOR ABOUT 20-- 25 YEARS.
AFTER THIS PERIOD HE WORKED AS A WARDSMAN AT LIDCOMB OLD MENS HOME, WHILE AT THIS PLACE HE STUDIED AND BECAME A MALE NURSE.
WHEN THE HOME WAS TURNED INTO A HOSPITAL HE CONTINUED AS A MALE NURSE UNTIL HE RETIRED, EXCEPT FOR A SHORT BREAK. WHEN THERE WAS TROUBLE WITH HIS MARRIAGE TO DOROTHY JOAN BARNETT. THIS WAS A BAD TIME FOR THE BARNETT FAMILY AND EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN DIVORCE FOR HIM AND DOROTHY.
THE WOMAN AT THE CENTER OF THE PROBLEM WAS CALLED GLORIA AND THEY WERE MARRIED SOME YEARS LATER. THIS UNION LASTED TILL HIS DEATH IN 1995 AND NONE OF THE BARNETT FAMILY HAVE HEARD OF GLORIA SINCE.
P.S. WHILE AT STERNS THEY STOPPED MAKING TENTS AFTER THE WAR AND STARTED MAKING CLOTHES UNTIL THEY CLOSED UP JUST. AFTER IVAN LEFT THEIR EMPLOYMENT.
IVAN DIED OF COMPLICATIONS AFTER A STROKE AND A LENGTHY STAY IN LIVERPOOL HOSPITAL.
