Hickerson was a Private in Company D, 3rd Regiment of the Louisiana Calvary during the Civil War.
The 1860 and 1870 Census shows Mr. Barksdale and his wife, Drucilla, living in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana.
He passed away in 1880.
