Biography

Lauretta was born in 1840. She was the daughter of Ephraim Barker and Tabitha Morgan.

In the 1850 census Lauretta (age 10) was in Benton, Alabama. The informant said she was born in Georgia.^[1]

Lauretta married Asbury Coke Jones on 4 December 1856 in Benton County, Alabama. The marriage took place before Benton became Calhoun County, Alabama.^[2]

In the 1860 census Lauretta (age 20) was in Township 16 Range 11, Calhoun, Alabama with two children. Her husband was not enumerated in this household.^[3]

In the 1870 census Lauretta (age 30) was in Cleburne, Alabama, United States. The enumerator entered her place of birth as Georgia.^[4]

In the 1880 census Lauretta (age 40) was the wife of Asbury C. Jones in Bell Mills, Cleburne, Alabama.^[5]

In the 1900 census Lauretta (age 60) was in Election Precinct 12 Choccolocco and Iron City, Calhoun, Alabama. The census reported that she had given birth to three children, and all three were still living. Her name was entered as "Sunreta."^[6]

Lauretta died on 28 April 1911 and was buried in Old Davistown Cemetery, Old Davisville, Calhoun, Alabama.^[7]
